Hamas and the war

Hamas Gaza hostages

Israel has been fighting Hamas in Gaza and for some reason some people seem to think that Hamas only exists in Gaza.

That is far from the truth. They have a very strong presence in Judea and Samaria, that the British colonizers and the Jordanian occupiers called "West Bank" or "Cisjordan", as well. Their presences is so strong that the currently ruling Fatah party did not hold elections for 20 years as they fear Hamas will win and then kill the Fatah leaders as they did in Gaza almost 20 years ago.

They are also present in Lebanon, next to Hezbollah and even in Turkey, a NATO country.

I also see some people thinking that Israel won the war over Hamas.

Wouldn't that mean that they stop firing rockets into Israel? Just in the last week they fired some 20 rockets. From Gaza.

Hamas still holds 100 hostages and it still has demands. They still demand that we free terrorist in exchange for a few hostages. That does not sound like an organization that was defeated.

With all the devastation that happened in Gaza, the general population is still not taking charge. They are either still afraid of Hamas or even supporting it.

It is also not very surprising that they don't feel defeated. It seem a lot of people in the West are demanding from Israel to stop fighting. This emboldens Hamas as they feel if they can hold out some more, if they can show a few more dead bodies to the world then the Western voices demanding Israel to stop fighting might win and then Hamas can stay in power and celebrate victory.

In other words, if you are demanding from Israel to stop fighting, effectively you are playing into the hands of Hamas.
